Costa Rica 2023-2024

We took beach vacations in January of 2023 and January of 2024. While in Costa Rica, we took a boat ride up the Estuary in Playa Grande (part of Las Baulas National Marine Park) adjacent to Tamarindo in 2024, and in both years we took boat rides on the Tempisque River, in Palo Verde National Park in Guanacaste province. Both years we stayed in Playa Hermosa.

Palo Verde National Park is really special, we visited it by boating down the Tempisque river from two different tour operators, Palo Verde Boat Tours, and Hacienda El Veijo Boat Tours. Both were really top notch. If you go, be thoughtful of tides in the river (it's subject to a 4-6 foot tide). Low tides are preferable for seeing crocodiles getting sun, high tides are preferable to seeing crocodile eyes floating by as they feed on unsuspecting wildlife.
